Its always a gamble.
In the book of Ecclesiastes King Solomon talks about nothing being new under the sun and I feel like this applies on several levels. He speaks of how 1. anything aside from the Lord is folly and 2. the more you know (life, reality, issues) the more sad you are, only cause you are not ignorant to the realities of the world.
Lately I felt the urge to open up this book again. There’s been a few situations that have come up where my reality has brought the extra shedding of wisdom but also some sadness. The saying goes “ignorance is bliss” and sometimes it really is, but what happens when you serve a God who brings things to light? God wants to show you what’s going on in life and definitely wants to show you what’s going on inside of each of our hearts.
I have my own form of self reflection but often times others don’t. They’re just not at that chapter in their life. To me, it brings reality yet sadness. Even more so, it makes me look like a debbie downer when in reality there is something so liberating and awesome about giving your life to the Lord. It makes you stronger to know that God already warned us about mankind and how things may not go our way.
It’s always a gamble to care or love for others who may not be at this place in their life. King Solomon, by far, tells it like it is in the book of Ecclesiastes and I will have to just dive into it again so that I realize—-this is the way its always been and until I stop serving Jesus I will have to continue to love people no matter what chapter they are in.
Ecclesiastes 3
A Time for Everything
1 For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 7:13-14
Accept the way God does things,
for who can straighten what he has made crooked?
Enjoy prosperity while you can,
but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God.
Remember that nothing is certain in this life.
