33 When Moses finished speaking with them, he covered his face with a veil. 34 But whenever he went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the Lord, he would remove the veil until he came out again. Then he would give the people whatever instructions the Lord had given him, 35 and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the Lord.

Exodus 34:33-35

The One Year Bible just went through the book of Exodus and I have been reflecting alot lately on the latter chapters of Exodus. I tell ya- you get blown away at the presence of the Lord. He dealt with Moses in such a way that I could only DREAM of. I can’t really explain the full authoritative tone the Lord has and the deep obedience and calling Moses has. But in these verses, I was taken back by the fact that the Lord would meet Moses there. He would call him to a place to chat with him- to deal with the situation at hand.

There was chaos in the camps. From Aaron allowing chaos to the people now worshipping golden calves…then Moses took it to the Lord. Never fully seeing his face but knowing he was in the presence of something larger, of true authority. Moses had no clue how radiant he was from speaking to the Lord, it wasn’t until the people in the camp was fearful of looking at Moses because they didn’t know why his face was so bright. Take note the veil was to speak to the people so it wasn’t too bright for them but the veil came off when he would go speak to the Lord. Oh…its BEAUTIFUL!

Wow, I wonder if I will ever get to that point. I realize I will never see God’s face on earth but do I come to him in a manner where others can see a difference in my demeanor, my actions and the way I carry myself? You don’t have to glow  by color to know that someone looks different.

Something about this passage was so moving to me. It really let me know just how sovereign God really is.
